Glossary
Security and monitoring,
defined
Plain-language definitions of the terms you will see across Optimux, from CVE scanning to SSL grades.
- Add-on
- Extra capacity (servers, websites, ports, or retention) you can attach to a paid plan without upgrading the plan itself.
- Agent
- A lightweight program you add to each server. It runs read-only checks over an encrypted connection and reports results to the Optimux dashboard.
- CVE Scanning
- Detection of known vulnerabilities (CVEs) in your OS packages and application dependencies, matched against public vulnerability databases.
- Data Retention
- How long monitoring checks, alerts, and historical results stay available.
- DNS Scan
- Validation of DNS records including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, CAA, and blacklist status to catch email and domain misconfigurations.
- Escalation Policy
- Automated alert escalation through configured channels and levels.
- Incident Response
- Hands-on help from Optimux engineers when something goes wrong, available as an add-on on the Business Managed plan.
- Multi-tenancy
- Strict data isolation across Organization, Project, and Server, so one tenant can never see another tenant data.
- Port Monitoring
- Checks that detect which TCP and UDP ports are open and flag unexpected or exposed services.
- Security Scans
- CVE, DNS, and server audit checks based on your plan frequency.
- Security Score
- A single 0 to 100 figure that summarizes how many security checks a server passed in its latest audit.
- Server Audit
- A read-only inspection of a server's configuration, installed packages, and hardening against a set of security checks.
- Server Updates
- Pre-check, controlled upgrade, and post-check validation workflow.
- SSL Grade
- A letter rating from A+ to F for how securely a site's TLS configuration is set up, based on protocol, cipher, and certificate strength.
- SSL Monitoring
- Tracking of certificate validity, grade, and expiry so you are warned before a certificate lapses.
- Threat Detection
- Fast checks for suspicious processes, outbound connections, and persistence that can indicate a compromised server.
- Uptime Monitor
- A recurring check that confirms a website or service is reachable over HTTP, HTTPS, TCP, ping, or a keyword match.
